"Being is fractal" was written on the occasion of Kota Yamazaki's residency at the Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) in 2017. During this time, Yamazaki created Darkness Odyssey Part 2: I or Hallucination, a choreography inspired by writings of authors Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, and Butoh pioneer Tatsumi Hijikata’s notion of “dance of darkness." Part 2: I or Hallucination considers the fragile, vaporizing body in a fragmented, yet interconnected universe.
